The Area

Peyia

The village of Peyia has 2 supermarkets, the largest being Philippos and stands behind the church sells English Newspapers daily. There are a couple of banks with ATM’s, restaurants, bars, taverna’s, chemist, bakery and butchers.

The “Jail Pub” has a very hospitable landlord and friendly locals (nice log fire in the winter). There is a “Take-a-way” just opposite to this, very reasonably priced and good value for money. The Peyia taverna which has an excellent reputation but you do need to book (might only need ½ to 1 hour but it is very popular and always full). Sophie’s restaurant (round the back of the Peyia Taverna) does a Theme night which is very good as well as “Sunday Dinner”. You really do need to book for this as it gets really full both with holiday makers and the locals. It is a ’buffet’ but ‘eat as much as you like’ with a set price (cheaper for children) and the choices are fantastic.

Coral Bay

The beautiful sandy beaches of Coral Bay are no more than a 5 minutes drive from the house. On the way to Coral Bay you will encounter numerous leather, jewellery & souvenir shops as well as restaurants & bars. Trattoria LA VIGNA, Italian restaurant is on your left hand side of the road as you come off the main road from Paphos. Serves excellent food and good prices, it is well worth a visit and comes highly recommended.

Paphos

Paphos harbour is approx. 20 minutes drive away from the house with its many restaurants, bars, leather, jewellery & souvenir shops. It is well worth a visit to see all the historic treasures, including St Paul’s pillar, the ancient mosaics, old churches and the Tombs of the Kings just to name but a few. You can hire a boat or book a cruise on the ‘Wave Dancer 1’. This has been recommended for a ‘memorable’ time and you have various programmes to choose from e.g. Fireworks Night, Cypriot Night, VIP Sunset and more, the choice is yours.

Just a few places of interest

• Visit the “Water sports” at Paphos. This really is a full day out for water lovers.
• Book a speed boat at Paphos harbour or go on one of the many “boat trips”.
• Visit the Troodos mountains.
• Lefkara for the famous Lefkara lace where you can actually see it being made.
• Aphrodites rock.
• Nicosia which of course is the capital of Cyprus.
• Latchi fishing village.
• A choice of 3 golf clubs if this is your pleasure just 45 mins drive away.

Car Hire/Taxi

Car hire not essential if you wish to chill out or just relax and remain self-sufficient in the village but it is recommended if you wish to visit the numerous places of interest that Cyprus has to offer. A taxi can be arranged to collect you on your arrival at the airport and the same on departure.
